I seem to have developed a massive girl crush on Sudanese model Ajak Deng (see issue 11 of ARISE for reason why). She has short hair, a baby face and the most luscious lips I have ever seen. I want those! Deng is from Sudan like the other supermodel Alek Wek. I love Alek and find her beauty ethereal. Deng by comparison is softer and seems somehow more womanly. Anyway I thought I would share some of my favourite pictures of her from the Arise and other shoots.

Arise Magazine is the first glossy to dedicate itself to African fashion, art and politics. Arise has become my new-found obsession. Unfortunately they have still not sorted out their yearly membership. I once met the owner of the magazine and though he was not very nice (read arrogant and pompous!) I love the magazine and I hope to one day attend their fashion show in Africa. Arise shows the continent in its complexities, styles and innovations.
