Last Sunday I attended the Images of Black Women conference. The Saturday afternoon was geared towards a panel discussion about the position of black women in cinema this year (The Help etc…) and a showing of Carribean mix showcasing three short films. To be frank I found the panel to be a bit of a pity party. I genuinely feel that if we feel that we lack representation in general we need to look at other markets and create them for ourselves. Nollywood anyone??
What was present was an array of gorgeous women and gorgeous fros. I have been noticing that I bump into more naturals than relaxed/weave wearing women these days. I sense a revolution in the air. Peep below for more pictures. Can’t wait to attend again next year. X
